    Cadets,

I would also start thinking about LLAB 6. It's going to be an airman's manual LLAB. Chances are, I will be putting one of you in charge of each of these topics: buddy care, sign/countersign, POW handling, small unit tactics, in processing, etc. I would highly suggest looking at these lessons ASAP.

    Very Respectfully,

    Cadet Randazzo

Do you all want to break up these topics and do just a quick 1-page summary of the key points? I'll take small unit tactics.

    Challenge and Password

    Sign/Countersign:
    • Words
o Words of the day are “blue cards”
 Challenge word would be “blue”
     Correct response “cards”
    • Number
    o Must be between 2 and 10
o The challenge and the correct response must make the sum of the number of the day
 Number of the day is 7
     Challenge is 4
     Correct response is 3

    Chemical Codes:
    • Used to identify people wearing protective masks or who are in MOPP 4
o These codes are a constantly changing list of numbers and letters developed into a square grid matrix at the back of the Airman’s Manual to necessitate reponse to possible combinations of challenge codes
o Very secure, but most difficult method to operate

    Duress Words
    • Any unusual word not usually used in course of routine conversation
    • Can be inserted into a conversation to stealthily communicate that a person is under some form of duress
    • Security Forces publish duress words on a periodic basis

LLab 6--Airman's Manual Empty MOPP levels

    Post  maggie.castile Tue Feb 24, 2009 7:38 pm

hey all! I did this while you were all Physically Training today:

    MOPP (Mission Oriented Protective Posture)
-quickly increases or decreases personal protection against nuclear, biological, chemical, and conventional threats
-senior commander controls MOPP levels for the airbase
-IPE (Individual protective equipment) includes chemical defense ensemble (C-Bag and D-Bag) and field gear (A-Bag)
-depending on the threat and mission, MOPP levels may vary within different areas of the airbase and operating location
    MOPP options
-mask-only option: wear protective mask only without the hood, use only after post-attack reconnaissance is complete
-no BDU or Flight Suit option: do not wear your BDU or flight suit under your overgarment
-ventilation option: may open overgarment jacket to increase ventilation and reduce thermal build-up, automatically revoked with each MOPP level increase
    MOPP Level 0:
-worn: regular uniform of the day
-have ready for immediate donning: IPE (individual protective equipment)
-carried: -protective mask with C2 series canister
-primary use: pre-attack, periods of increased alert when enemy has an NBC (nuclear, biological, or chemical) capability, no indication of NBC use in immediate future
-MOPP Level 0 in the Air Force is equivalent to MOPP READY in other US services
    MOPP Level 1:
    -worn: overgarment and field gear
-carried: overboots, protective mask, and gloves
-primary use: pre-attack, periods of increased alert when an NBC attack could occur with little or no warning
    MOPP Level 2:
-worn: overgarment, overboots, and field gear
    -carried: protective mask and gloves
-primary use: pre-attack or post-attack, periods of increased alert when an NBC attack could occur with little or no warning
    MOPP Level 3:
-worn: overgarment, protective mask, hood, overboots, and field gear
    -carried: gloves
-primary use: pre-attack or post-attack, periods of increased alert when an NBC attack could occur with little or no warning
    MOPP Level 4:
-worn: overgarment, protective mask, hood, gloves, overboots, and field gear
    -carried: aircrew—field gear
-primary use: post-attack, when an NBC attack is imminent or in progress, when NBC contamination is present or suspected or the highest level of protection is required
    Split-MOPP Concept:
-divides the airbase into multiple sectors or control zones and assigns threat-based protective actions and MOPP for each area that’s independent from one another
-follow UCC instructions for movement between zones
-Call UCC before leaving or entering zones
